5 Years of Sierra Devin Photo: A Look Back and A Look Ahead

Five years ago, Sierra Devin Photo was just a dream—a side hustle born from a love of capturing life's sweetest moments. This milestone, it’s so much more than a business... it's a calling, a community, and one of the greatest blessings of my life.

As I reflect on this journey, I wanted to share a few thoughts from my heart about how far we've come, what I've learned along the way, and what’s ahead for SDP.

How My Approach Has Grown and Shifted

When I first picked up my camera, I was focused on getting the "perfect" photo—the prettiest pose, the best lighting, the shot that would make someone say wow. But over time, the Lord has reshaped my heart for this work.

It’s not just about the photo anymore. It’s about what’s happening in that moment… who’s in the frame, what we’re celebrating, who we’ll miss one day. These are the real treasures—the pieces of our lives we never want to forget. Watching photography transform from a hobby into my life’s work has been one of my biggest blessings, and I’m so thankful for the path He’s paved.

What I'm Most Proud Of

Hands down, it’s the people.

The connections I’ve made, with fellow photographers, clients, couples, graduates, and families have been nothing short of incredible. Every person who has trusted me to capture their blessings and memories has left a mark on my heart. It’s something I will never, ever take for granted.

Advice I'd Give to Myself 5 Years Ago

If I could go back and whisper something to that girl just starting out, I’d tell her:
It’s all going to be okay.

You’re going to take risks. You’re going to fail sometimes. It's not always going to look the way you thought it would... but you’re going to make it. And you’ll still love this work with your whole heart.

What Has Surprised Me the Most

Honestly? How much I’ve learned from my clients.

Capturing people in all seasons of life whether they’re just engaged, celebrating milestones, welcoming new babies, or honoring the legacy of loved ones—has been the sweetest education. Even now, I’m gathering marriage advice and life lessons during sessions, and it fills me up more than words can say.

How Clients Have Shaped My Heart and My Business

My clients have taught me to slow down and really see people. They’ve shown me what true joy, connection, and love look like. They’ve made me fall even deeper in love with storytelling through photos and for that, I’ll be forever grateful.

What’s Next for Sierra Devin Photo?

I’m so excited to watch how this next season unfolds!
With Nashville growth on the horizon and big dreams for 2026, I truly feel like we’re just getting started. I can't wait to meet more amazing people, capture more memories, and continue doing what I love most—telling stories through photos that feel just like home.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’ve been here since day one or just found your way to SDP recently, you are part of something so special to me. Cheers to five beautiful years and to whatever magic the future holds. 🥂
